James Bingaman / University of Delaware

James Bingaman is a Ph.D. student and instructor at the University of Delaware studying media communication. Using an audience-centered approach, his research explores the relationship between media messages and individuals, groups, organizations, and society at large. Specifically, James examines topics including non-normative sports, parasocial interactions/relationships, and the use of inoculation in thwarting attempted persuasive messages. Originally from Australia, James received his M.A. in Mass Communication with a focus on Sports Media from Texas Tech University and B.A. in Communication Studies from San Jose State University.
