Gabriel Wisnewski-Parks / Western Carolina University

Gabriel Wisnewski-Parks is a full-time instructor in the Department of Communication at Western Carolina University, where he teaches the introductory communication course. He earned an undergraduate and graduate degree in Communication, Public Advocacy, and Rhetorical Studies from the University of North Carolina Greensboro, where he worked as an instructor and advisor. A critical rhetorician, Gabe’s award-winning research relates to issues concerning political communication, public influencers, social media and polarization, and identity. He is particularly interested in the role of social media platforms for shaping identities and political narratives. His most recent publication was a book chapter analyzing how YouTube influencers shape narratives of masculinity, featured in the edited collection, Rhetoric of Masculinity: Male Body Image, Media, and Gender Role Stress/Conflict. Gabriel’s other works have been published in Southern Communication Journal and featured on CNN Business.
